CODE OF ETHICS

As a member of the Golden Retriever Club of Western Australia (Inc) and dedicated to furthering the objectives of the Club, I will comply with the Code of Ethics based on the minimum guidelines as follows:

  1. To be a responsible dog owner and to ensure that dogs under my ownership respect the rights of others and to abide the regulations made by State and Shire bodies.
  2. To maintain the best possible standards of health and environment for my dogs, not keeping more than I can properly care for and maintain.
  3. To sell only puppies and adult dogs which, to the best of my knowledge, are of sound health and temperament.
  4. To refuse to sell to unethical dealers and any buyers where I have reason to believe the dog will not be properly cared for.
  5. To keep and to pass on to buyers of stock, accurate records of health, pedigree and registration records and to advise on rearing.
  6. To refuse a stud service to any bitch that is unregistered or known to be suffering from defects which in my opinion render it unsuitable or unlikely to breed normal puppies. Nor shall I use a stud dog that is unregistered or known to have such failings.
